yesterday at the hospital was as hard as seeing Gary. Things have quickly gone from bad to critical with Gary's health. Not quite 2 wks. ago he collapsed at the Temple, and was taken to the St. George Hospital. As things developed, at first they thought his kidneys were shutting down. Finally we learned that he had leukemia and cancer in his kidneys so he was started on chemo. Then it was realized that the cancer and spread and would not be treatable so he has not been started on dialysis.
We went to the hospital yesterday, and this is really hitting all of the family so hard, but especially Hazel. I hate to see that kind of pain. It makes me physically ill. We were basically told that they are only giving him oxygen and meds for pain, but his organs are shutting down. If he makes it until Mon., they are planning to bring him home with hospice. Hazel has been sitting by his bed and she is physically and emotionally exhausted. I hate that I can't do anything for people that are in so much pain. Shad gave Gary a beautiful blessing. The hospital room was packed, and there were no dry eyes. We are saying many prayers for them.
